Heard about Eric from a friend of a friend. Researched him and saw nothing but good things. Did I mention he destroyed ADT's bid? Anyways, got him out 3 days later. He was prompt, friendly and informative. Realized an hour after he left I had neglected to have him do my 2 garage windows. Emailed him and he responded first thing the next morning. Said he'd be out the next day. Impressively fast response time considering he's the owner. The system itself is amazing. I don't have a worry in the world about my house when I'm at work anymore. I have an AC guy like Eric, he's a hands-on owner as well and I've never had better service over the years. I have a feeling Eric will be the same. It's actually refreshing to have good customer service in this age of worker entitlement. I'd take Dempsey Alarm over ADT anyday
I selected Dempsey Alarms to do my job for 2 reasons: (1) His perfect 5-star Yelp rating and (2) He was willing to install a system that fit my needs and price range. Eric responded promptly to phone calls and emails, kept scheduled appointment times (Even when he couldn't come himself because his wife was delivering their 2nd child, he made sure that his assistant came to perform the scheduled work.), and answered all my questions and concerns prior to and during the project. There were a couple of minor problems with the initial system install (as there usually are with any project) but he returned to correct them, cheerfully, and in a timely manner. Mine is the 17th 5-star rating in row for Eric on Yelp. If all contractors performed to his standard, home improvements would be a lot easier than they often are.
I recently had a problem with the security system that had been installed in my home for 8 years. The security company I was previously with agreed to repair the system but only if I renewed my contract for another 2 years. I'd had it with their shady business practices and decided to venture out and look for a new company who could repair my system and monitor it. I was so thankful to find Eric. He found a very cost effective way to repair my existing system and gave me a reasonable price for the monitoring. I am so thankful to have made the switch. He reassured me that if we ever have any problems to call and he'll come out to fix it. Thank goodness there are reliable and reputable companies still out there like this one.
Based on the Yelp reviews, I called Eric to pull out an old Radionics system in our house and replace it with a new Honeywell alarm system. He provided a timely estimate via email based on our phone conversation, which I appreciated. He arrived on time with an assistant, and removed and replaced our control panel and three keypads. He checked all of our door and window sensors, motion detectors, and siren, and replaced anything that was defective. According to Eric, our house is wired like a "Rancho Santa Fe" house so it was a bigger job than he anticipated, but he obviously knew what he was doing, and did an excellent job at a very reasonable price. He even installed some signs on our property.
I had Eric from Dempsey alarms install a 4 camera security system with DVR. Eric is very professional and polite and got the installation done in a few hours. There was a glitch in the DVR Eric originally bought in that it wouldn't output movie files that could be read on my Mac. So Eric did some research and set me up with a Digital Watchdog DVR which is much better and Mac friendly. Now when a neighbor's dog craps on my lawn again or messes around with my trash/recycle bins I'll be able to confront them with evidence! Oh no my dog didn't crap on your lawn. Whip out the iPad, right here at 8:20 AM and BAM you're busted!
I HIGHLY recommend Dempsey Alarms for video surveillance cameras. I called several top security companies in San Diego, and Dempsey Alarms immediately gave me the most information and options. They designed and installed a really robust system for a very reasonable price. It's tempting to buy a retail camera system and install it yourself, but I learned of some pitfalls with that strategy and I'm very glad I called Eric Dempsey and got a perfect system on the first try. They also helped me save money on features that aren't needed, and the installation price was very reasonable in my opinion. My system's got tons of sophisticated features built in, but I like that it's simple to use. I can view all 8 cameras from anywhere on my phone, or use my living room TV to see who is at the front door (while recording too). Our alarm system monitoring is still under contract with another company, but when that contract expires we will probably switch that to Dempsey Alarms, too.
Eric is a reliable and expert alarm guy, and very easy to work with.
Eric installed our alarm last year. He spent the time to find out how we will make the best use of the system. He has made minor changes to the system as our needs changed. He has become a good friend.

Did contacted so many companies and got quote. Dempsey was best out of them. Eric has good knowledge of the system and will keep up to the appointments. Once appointment is confirmed Eric showed up and completed activation within 2 hours. Had a issue with panel due to power outage, this was replaced by Eric with in 20 min and I am good to go.
It is very difficult to find service providers who are truly exceptional at their specialty and offer outstanding customer service. Eric Dempsey and Dempsey Alarms are standout vendors.

All alarm systems offered were high quality, not the marginal low security systems offered by several other companies who seem more interested in alarm system monitoring then the quality of the security equipment they install.
After being a long time ADT customer, I found Dempsey Alarms on Yelp and decided we needed a change with our new house. I spoke to Eric directly and I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to talk to the owner and get all my questions answered before the install. Eric sent our proposal right over. It was a rocky start with Eric accidentally noting my appointment wrong so after I called to follow up on the appointment after half an hour past the appointment time, he quickly made amends by making sure he was at my house within two hours of the original appointment and he even felt so horrible that he gave me a discount on my install after completing another job. He was genuinely sorry and I could recognize it so I didn't give him a hard time but it was great to see that he wanted to make good on his company name and made things better. Hurrah for great customer service. The comfort and convenience of our new alarm system is A+ and we couldn't be happier with our decision. Eric and his team reallly live up to their stellar reviews. We moved into a rental for a 2-year stay and didn't want to revamp the alarm system already in the home, but didn't have any of the product matereials or information. Eric came out, got the alarm system started and repaired any damaged contacts. He was in our home for about 1 1/2 hours and only charged me $35 to activate the system, even though there was some work to be done to connect it with our phone line and get it in running order, and set me up for very affordable monthly monitoring. I was incredibly pleased with his service, friendliness, ease to work with and pricing that I registered for Yelp for the first time to write this review.

It is indeed a pleasure to do business with Eric and his Team, Including Doug. Eric is always quick to respond to questions, whether by email or by phone. At the end of 2013, Eric came to my newly purchased home to install a security system and 3 outside cameras, There were a few hiccups with the cameras. But each time Eric or Doug came out quickly, fixed the problem, with the highest level of customer service. I feel very comfortable that if I ever have a problem with the system again, they will come out to fix it to my satisfaction, and with a cheerful and friendly attitude. So as everyone else have said, Eric is an outstanding person to work with. He is very honest and provides great security solution with affordable cost. The equipments he installed are all state of art (touch screen, very sleek like apple products and non intrusive)...we got totally wireless. He only took 45 minutes to install security for the entire single family home.
I called Eric for information, he was great on the phone. I had ADT over prior and had specific capabilities I wanted. I needed alerts to all openings, disarmings and specifically wanted a linked Dead bolt to give to a teenager that lets them in and disarms the system without giving the teenager access to the system. All was a breeze for Doug my installer to do. I upgraded to the Zwave system. ADT called me back twice to explain they could do what I wanted after they got their heads together and discussed it. If they don't know how it operates then don't buy of course.... Dempsey alarms costs less per month, the Alarm.com controls and access to make changes is awesome, the phone app works well, all in all a perfect fit. ADT had no clue..
Eric Dempsey is not only the owner, he is an installer as well. Often when you call you will get him on phone. They provide great customer service, responding quickly to customers. I am a general contractor, and I'm so comfortable with his service that I refer him to my own clients. Not to mention, Dempsey is more affordable than companies like ADT.
Eric Dempsey installed my alarm system and video cameras. He gave me the best number of choices on choosing these systems and he was very honest and polite in our dealings. Now I am protected by an affordable monitored alarm system and can view my home from my smartphone. All this at a reasonable price and low monthly fee. Can't recommend these guys highly enough!

I had Eric install an alarm system in my house, and every part of the process was great. Eric was fast, responsive, and professional. He came over for a quote within a few days of contact, and the prices were reasonable. He was back out in another few days to install the system, which took less than an hour. The equipment he installs is amazing, I've never had a problem. He also offers great support after the system is installed. I had a contractor accidentally knock off one of the sensors. Eric came out within a day to fix it.

There is a reason these guys are #1. It's about service. Eric was very responsive when I called. My wife was anxious to get our new home rigged up and I needed to talk to someone and get some straight answers about a home security system. Eric did not try to up-sell me and gave me good answers about what he recommended for our home. We ended up with a basic package but with a few add-ons. His installer showed up ON TIME on the day of the install and it was completed in a few hours. His installer was good about instructing my wife on the system and she is now very happy - so I am too! Their prices are in line with the big companies but I like having a person who will answer my texts or calls. Solid, established company with a great product. Recommend.

Long overdue review...when we moved to a new house, we wanted to get an alarm system. Got quotes from 3 different companies and did a lot of research on various types of systems.
When meeting with the other 2 companies, I was disappointed to find that the people that came to my house had an extremely limited (and sometimes incorrect) understanding of the systems that they were selling and how they worked. I'm a techie myself so I have lots of detailed questions but the other companies were either unable to answer them or were annoyed that I was asking them. This was not the case with Eric. It's always great when you call a number and get to directly talk to a person...even better with the owner of the company. He is very knowledgeable and spoke with me for maybe 20 mins on our initial phone call answering all of my questions. We scheduled a time for him to come to look at our house and see what he recommended.
For what you are getting, their price was cheaper than the other companies and after researching other types of systems, I am very happy with this system put in by Dempsey Alarms. I've had an alarm system installed and then later also got cameras installed.
Every time they have been here, Eric, Doug, and Matt have done a great job and are professionals. The installation looks and functions very well.

I don't write too many reviews but every once in awhile I find an experience so positive that I feel obliged to "spread the word". Dempsey Alarms & Eric Dempsey was one of those occasions.
A few months back I had finally decided to have a security system & cameras installed in my home (and office). Turning to Yelp as I usually do conduct my research it was clear that Dempsey Alarms was highly regarded and looked like an appropriate choice.
I called the number and spoke directly with Eric Dempsey. We were off to a good start...I really try to deal directly with owner/operators when it comes to any kind of service. My ideal situation is where it is the owner who comes to my home to appraise the scope of work to be done, provide a detailed quote and then actually be the one who performs the work.
I can assure you that if you call one of the Big Boys with the slick million dollar TV marketing campaigns this won't be the case. You will have a salesmen bid the job and you will have someone else do the work the day of the installation. And you may not be thrilled with that person.
Eric Dempsey is Dempsey Alarms and he runs the show. If you're thinking of getting a system I'd call ASAP...this preferred scenario may not last forever. Eric is VERY good at what he does, and I know he is getting busier.
Anyway, back to the job. Eric was actually kind enough to come to my home on 2 separate instances several months apart. I had told him that I'd met with another company who was well known for security in my area (Rancho Santa Fe) and despite this other company being just fine on the sales call...I'd determined that I wanted Eric for the job. He had no problem with coming out again, going over the scope of work again, and writing up a quote again. Very Cool!
A week later Eric and his assistant Doug showed up on time and began the work. To make a long story short, the work proceeded flawlessly and after about 4 hours or so the work was complete. All the components were installed and "dialed-in" flawlessly. The work looks great. In fact, my wife who is a stickler when it comes to spotting things not looking "quite right" was impressed with Eric, Doug and their work...a very lofty & rare compliment.
My home now has all appropriate windows & doors protected, 3 outdoor day/night cameras which I can view live and even set to record based on criteria I choose and a couple of motion detectors as another layer of protection. Everything is positioned subtly and in no way has made our home look like a fortress. Nevertheless, an unwanted visitor will most probably notice a few aspects of our system before even arriving at our front door. Just the way I wanted it.
Eric & Doug took plenty of time to not only provide a thorough lesson in how the system works but also spent a lot of time going over how best to interact with the beautifully elegant control panel, which by the way has a very simple to learn interface. Furthermore, they hung around while I had fun playing with my new ALARM.COM app on my android phone...checking out what the cameras were seeing.
This app is awesome and will work from your desktop, iphone, ipad, android, etc. It allows you to not only keep an eye on things from WHEREVER you are but you can also completely control all elements of your system from your phone or a cute little key fob the system includes. No more running for the control panel when you enter your home...now I can simply use the fob on my keychain or use my phone to turn off the system as I drive up my driveway.
The system has only been in a couple of days but I'm already comfortable with it.
I didn't mean for this review to ramble on...sorry. One last thing. When leaving, Eric made sure that I would not feel awkward calling him personally to answer any questions I had in the days/weeks ahead. He could have just as easily told me to call the alarm company who is also there to provide this service but he didn't. He said I could call him anytime...and I know he means it.
By the way Eric & Doug...thanks for being so courteous & conscientious while you were in my home. I appreciated the way you wiped your feet upon entering the home and navigated carefully around hallways & doorways with your ladders and toolbelts....NOT ONE DING!!

If every business worked the way Eric runs his then there would be no Yelp! Top quality product and TRUE customer service. Eric seems to actually care about the security of the families he sets these systems up for. Once he knew what I wanted and why he simply told me that I did not need to buy all the gear I was thinking about. He also took the time to explain his reasoning even though it obviously probably cost him some revenue in lost sales.
I probably won't need another security system for awhile, but I will recommend Dempsey Alarms to anyone who is in the market for one to Eric, and I will for sure go back to him for any future home security needs.
I started this review close to a year ago, but I guess I didn't finish it. I highly, highly recommend this company. I had first called ADT and it was a corporate maze. Then I read about Dempsey on line. Eric, the owner came out and gave us a very professional presentation. No heavy sales pitch; just the facts. He was happy to answer all of our questions too. We have now had the system for about ten months and could not be happier. When I have a question, I can just text Eric, the owner. We had to have one repair and they were more than happy to come out. Eric at Dempsey Alarms has shown extraordinary customer service. When he first installed our security cameras, there were a number of technical glitches (which were specific to the equipment, not the installer). Eric probably lost money on our job as he spent considerable time not only fixing any issues, but double and triple checking everything.
This is the benefit of working with an owner operator - their work and customer service is personal to them as it reflects on their name and reputation. Eric certainly is serious about taking care of his customers - there were no excuses or attempts to persuade us it wasn't his fault (even though I'm pretty sure the equipment was the issue). Now everything is working and we are very happy.

I'm very satisfied with the service that Dempsey has provided. After calling several security companies, I decided to go local. I LOVE that they are local, not only to support a local business but because they will respond to any issues in person, in a timely manner. They were able to set up my system within days of calling them. The owner, Eric, was helpful in answering all of my questions and making me feel at ease, as this is our first alarm system. They are also reasonably priced and didn't try to up-sell me on things I didn't want or need. I never felt like Eric was a saleman, unlike other companies. I would highly recommend them.

Wow! that was a quick response. I guess I should have given Eric more time to respond to my email before I yelped this review. As Eric commented below to my review I received an email from him to reimburse the money I paid to the home warranty guy. I purchased an "ARLO" wireless system from Best Buy. This thing is a nightmare for anyone not familiar with it. It has many many issues, but after Eric came out and assisted me, i am getting a lot more results from my cameras. While Arlo (by Netgear) tells you it can function up to 300 ft. from the base unit, it is not reliable if there are any walls interfering. Three Best Buy sales persons never mentioned that, nor that it requires a router (all I had was a cable modem). I would NEVER buy an ARLO wireless security system again. They only give you 15 days to return it to Best Buy. NOT FAIR !!!!
I would not normally spend so much money on a security system but peace of mind is priceless. These guys are not cheap, but then again I did not want cheap equipment. Eric bid the job and Matt and Doug installed the system and showed me how to use it. They are a very busy company but were able to squeeze me in. The install took the better part of a day but I can now view my house from my android phone from anywhere in the world. Thanks Dempsey alarms. I would do business with this company again.
Eric and his crew are such a great group of guys. I can not believe the level of service I got with them. The moment I called I could tell how kind and honest Eric was and I knew I wanted to do business with him. When he came out he was so nice and courteous of installing my cameras without making it look obvious we had cameras. He really took great care of us, took his time with the installation and then made sure I knew how to work everything. We love the system he installed it works perfectly from our phones. It's so cool to access everything from anywhere in the world. Eric has come back a few times and always returned my calls promptly when I had any questions or needed extra help. And he is so nice and patient.
Dustin with Dempsey came out to install a security system in my home but due to some of the structural features in my house they were unable to complete the work. In the meantime, we've planned some alternative methods (involving me calling an electrician) before they can come back out. During this whole process, however, Dustin was very kind and gracious and willing to stay past his allotted time to make sure we were taken care of. Even though I couldn't get my alarm system installed I still would give this company 5 stars for the attention they took to work out a possible solution. I will continue working with them once we get our wiring situated. Thank you!!
Wow. That pretty much sums it up. 100% professional all the way from start to finish. Eric personally answered all my questions when I first called and made a huge effort to accommodate my limited time to get the install in. Install was perfect and it's really great equipment. I had a few questions after install and Eric made a trip to our home to personally go over my concerns. I have used three different monitoring companies for my alarm system over the last several years. Out of the three, Dempsey is by far the best. From customer services to the quality of the monitoring center they are top notch. It is rare now to get an actual human on the phone when you are having a problem, but Dempsey always answers or calls back right away.

I am totally amazed after having Mr. Dempsey install my new home system alarm and thermostat. His service was very quick and efficient, yet I did not feel as though I was being rushed through the steps. The process lasted less than half a day and by the time he left, I felt I knew all I needed to know about the system. All of my questions were answered with patience and no attitude was given when I asked for clarifications or reiterations. This man is very humble and knowledgeable, I am very thankful to have him as part of my contacts.
Additionally, the system itself looks very modern, has a nice interface, is fast, as well as easy to use. Furthermore, the system itself is very extensive with smoke sensors, remote sensors, sensors for the glass in the case that it should break, etc. I can sleep easier knowing that my family will be alerted and better protected from various dangers thanks to Dempsey Alarms.

Eric was very helpful in transferring the alarm from the home we sold to our new dwelling. He was timely on a Saturday (the only day to new owner of the old house could be available), and came straight to the new house and CHEERFULLY installed the unit in the new house. He was in and out in about an hour. We talked about BYU-Hawaii, Laie, and O'ahu in general. Good conversation while doing a great installation. We only had one problem at our old home, a false alarm during a terrible rain storm in No. San Diego County in early 2017. We were notified in Hawaii and transferred to the San Diego Sheriff's Department, who handled the situation flawlessly. Our hats are off to Dempsey, AND the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.
Eric the owner of Dempsey alarms quoted me 1 to 2 hours at $75 an hour to fix replace the panel in my ademco alarm alarm. The technician Dustin came out had it done in one hour. This is a first for any contractor I've ever hired. Best contractor that I've ever worked with and you will note by my other reviews I'm a tough sell

This company updated the 20-year old security system in our house when we replaced our windows. The fees were lower than some others we were quoted and the work they did for us was great. The owner of the company responds to us if we have questions or concerns. They arrived exactly as scheduled, worked neatly, and were respectful our our needs. We love that we can now monitor, arm, or disarm our system over the internet. When we reported having occasional problems connecting over the web, Dustin came out and replaced the cellular unit and it has performed flawlessly since. We got a feeling of personal pride and integrity from all the staff. We are glad we switched!

After 3 calls in 3 days to All Secure and no call backs, I found Dempsey Alarms on Yelp and not only did I get someone that answered the phone but she had Eric call me back immediately to set up an appointment. The came out on the scheduled day and were able to replace all batteries in the system and on the sensors in no time at all.
I really appreciate that, even though they didn't originally install my system, they still treated me like one of their own customers. I would definitely do business with them.

Eric, the owner, returned our call on the first inquiry and took his time to explain the options avaiable to us. We had many questions as this is the first alam system we have ever had installed. I contacted Eric when our 8 year old ADT wireless alarm was having issues with the sensors and fault codes. He sent out Dustin promptly. Dustin arrived 10 minutes early and was very professional and cordial. He examined our problems and gave us a few options from minor repair to full system upgrade. We chose the minor repair and he told us we had a few window sensors that were placed upside down. He could've easily told us they were bad and sold us brand new sensors. He was honest and he fixed all our problems without any new parts. Our ADT system is just like new and working flawlessly.

After a year of having a Dempsey Alarm system in place, I wanted to finally provide an update. After reviewing 4 alarm companies, and having a full interviews with 3, I chose Dempsey Alarm. Over the past year, I've had an alarm go off while I was away and police respond (extremely quickly i might add), I have had many multiple oops situation with kids and hitting the wrong button & only a positive experience with the dispatchers, had a billing error that was immediately fixed with a single communication, and a battery go out in one sensor that was repaired for free within a couple days.
I've never had a alarm system but required one with our new home insurance - between the ring cameras and the alarm system they installed, I've never felt concerned about the safety of my family once.
Eric Dempsey installed my alarm system and video cameras. He gave me the best number of choices on choosing these systems and he was very honest and polite in our dealings. Now I am protected by an affordable monitored alarm system and can view my home from my smartphone. All this at a reasonable price and low monthly fee. Can't recommend these guys highly enough
Eric Dempsey is not only the owner, he is an installer as well. Often when you call you will get him on phone. They provide great customer service, responding quickly to customers. I am a general contractor, and I'm so comfortable with his service that I refer him to my own clients. Not to mention, Dempsey is more affordable than companies like ADT.
